Comments: I just had to visit this site again because every day I bring up the T.W. Harris family picture on my website, and every day I look at Uncle Harold's picture and say to myself "THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY BROTHER, BLAKE!" So I just wanted to share that thought with those of you who might remember my brother. It's nice to read short comments from all of you but I especially like hearing the short stories and memories about our family. So I'll share one of my memories with you. I remember the days when we would have family reunions at Bumpy and Nanny's (Wit & Em's) house - (remember the old farmhouse?) or later, in the church basement. It seems like everybody had their little "act" that was required at each reunion - do you remember the "uncles" performing the "Chinese Laundlee" act, with nylon stockings over their faces to pull their eyes back and give them an Asian appearance. Oh, how incredibly politically incorrect that act would be now, but how absolutely SCREAMINGLY FUNNY!! it was then! The uncles just seemed to play off of each other, ad libbing as they went along. I'm sure at my tender age I missed many of the jokes but I enjoyed watching my uncles and grandfather get silly as they did their annual "act." Aunt Laverne used to tell the "Mary Had a Little Lamb" story, in which she impersonated several different grade-school personalities - the arrogant little girl, the weepy little girl, and so on - as they recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb." AND DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER THE YEAR THAT BRENT DANCED AND MIMED "Santa Baby"???? There he was, dressed up in a harem outfit (part of which I still think he 'borrowed' from MY closet) - with his face veiled, his eyelashes fluttering, and his hips undulating!! What an event that was! I especially remember Babe Ackerman's wide eyes and flabbergasted look! We really used to have a good time. After our family moved to Salem, and I grew up and eventually moved to California, I stopped attending the family reunions. So it was especially grand to go to another one this year - at age 55 mind you! IT's been too long, and I plan to come to the next reunion, for sure, with both daughters and (so far) SIX grandchildren in tow! In the meantime, let's keep adding to this page and getting to know each other. I'm living in Portland, Oregon now (my company transferred me here two years ago). I'm a CPA, working in the Internal Audit department of PG&E, which is a San Francisco-based utility company. One of my daughters, D'ana, lives in Cambridge, Mass with her 3 sons. The other daughter, Staci, lives in Lehi, Utah with a daughter, a son, and an unknown (due New Year's Eve!). Keep in touch! See you at the next reunion! HUGS - Carlie

I just hope I can see through my tears to write something intelligible. Seeing the TW Harris family group photo (especially Uncle Melvin, & Uncle Roy - he ROCKED) just overwhelmed me with the critical need to pursue our genealogy! If some (many?) of you are scratchin' your heads I'm Thelma Harris' son. My mom is the eldest daughter of Wilford & Emma Harris & I know Mom would want her love sent out to you all! It so warmed my heart to see Carlie's (Stillman) comments here. I just wish (more than anyone will ever know) that Robert (Miller), Aunt Anne & Uncle Doug's son could add his. Howard (Westhora) when I fly out to Portland in October wanna go steal some watermelons off the back of a truck with me like we used to do in Taber after our night shift at Cornwall Canning Co.? ::laughin'::God bless us, Everyone!Brent xx

Comments: Reading this page has brought back a lot of memories for me. We are getting anxious to see everyone at the family reunion. Mom, Loreen Ackerman, is doing really good and is also excited to see everyone. Thanks for getting this started Marion!! As we were out to Ann and Bryan's a few weeks ago, sitting in that house brought back many memories of being there when Aunt Emma and Uncle Wit lived there. When Aunt Emm would give us ice cream and cantelope, she would always lean over us and say "I'm sorry honey, but I cant-e-lope. I can also remember going out there and riding the horses with Keitha - after Uncle Wit had taken them for a little ride to get them ready for us "real cowgirls".
